Putting On A Corset
A common misconception is that you need someone to assist you to put a corset on. It is easier if there is someone there to assist you, but you can put a corset on by yourself. Just following the below instructions.
1) Loosen the lacing at the back until there is a 4-6inch gap.
2) Put the corset around you, making sure that the modesty panel is in place, if you do not want to expose skin under the lacing.
3) Once in place begin fastening the busk front (front closure).
4) It is usually easier to start at the top clasp and work your way down. This keeps the corset in the correct position and prevents any damage.
5) Reach around the back and gently tighten the lacing by pulling them, moving from the top to the middle, then from the bottom to the middle. Continue to tighten until you are happy with fit. There should be a pleasant hugging sensation.
6) When tightening, should you feel that the waistline is not in the correct place, simply lean to one side and pull downward on the opposite sides bottom hem. This should situate the waistline in the correct position. Then repeat this process by leaning to the other side.
7) To finish, tie the ends in a bow at the back. Some people prefer to wrap them around their waist and tie them in front. The choice is entirely yours.
8) If the corset looks out of balance on your body and isn't tightening correctly, simply loosen the laces and start again.
Important :
After wearing a corset comfortably for a short period of time the corset will start to mold itself to the shape of your body. At this point the material starts to evenly take the strain of waist reduction and you can tighten the corset further, if desired.
Once a corset gets into shape, it tends to keep that shape for the next occasion. We advise to take your time on first fit and get the shape right.
It is very important that one not try to lace the corset closed, or even very tightly on the first wearing. Placing too much pressure on the corset at the outset may damage the fabric and stitching. In addition, it may cause you discomfort and a negative feeling toward your beautiful new garment. |
